1. How to get an account?

On the login­page of B2DROP a link “Register” is available, the user has to create a new account there. After creation he is able to login, using his Email-­address provided during the registration.

1.1 How to reset the password?

Because B2DROP does not use the ownCloud user­management, if a user wants to reset his forgotten password he/she has to CLICK HERE. To reset the known password a user has to SIGN IN HERE and change the password.

2. What can i upload to B2DROP?

Any kind of temporary research data which you want to store, synchronise and share using a safe environment can be uploaded to B2DROP. Research data can be primary data or processed data, data as the basis for a publication. The research data can be empirical or theoretical and it can have various formats ­ papers, spreadsheets, audio­visual media, practically any kind file and format, provided the data source or purpose of the data has a scientific background. The data is uploaded from your local or departmental storage device as digital objects. Please read the service Terms of Use for further information.

What is not allowed to be deposited in B2DROP

Any kind of data which can be considered illegal in the real or digital world, this includes content of child sexual abuse and extreme violence and racist material. EUDAT respects the intellectual property rights of others and will respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable law properly provided to us.

3. What is research data?

Research data can be primary data or processed data, data as basis for a publication. The research data can be empirical or theorethical and it can have formats of papers, spreadsheets, audio­visual media, practically any kind file and format, provided the data source or purpose of the data has a scientific background.

4. How many files can I upload to B2DROP?

For the current prototype there is a limit of 20GB per user. This may increase in the future.

5. Does EUDAT own my data once I upload it to B2DROP?

No. EUDAT has no claim over the data uploaded to B2DROP and uploaders remain entirely responsible for the data they upload and share.

6. How long will you keep my data?

B2DROP is provided via EUDAT which is co-funded by the European Commission. EUDAT – European Data Infrastructure – is an initiative which is building a sustainable pan-European infrastructure for research data. It brings together a consortium of 25 partners, including national data and high performance computing (HPC) centres, technology providers, research communities, and research councils from 13 countries. EUDAT provides generic data services, such as storage and computing services to European researchers and research communities, and offer a joint metadata service integrating metadata from different communities into easily searchable and open catalogues. In the unlikely event that the B2DROP service would draw to a close in the future, we guarantee to keep your accessible for at least 6 months.
